13thApril
A clear and sunny day with a good wind which makes it an excellent day for some washing! There is only one other camper here so the facilities are not crowded which is lucky as the wash area is tiny and there's not even room for me!! so I have to leave Krysia do the chore while I did other ones. Honest!
Fort Akabar is perched on the edge of the palmery and is a lovely campsite. We leave the washing to dry itself while we go for a long walk. Out through the gate and the wilderness is calling.
We stroll along the edge of the palm trees admiring the many photo opportunities and being happy

Hello everybody |
If it moves, shoot it is the policy! Well, only joking but everywhere you look there's a potential stunner.

There's a stunner |
|
Hand in hand we go |
Soon we find a village made of sand, well mud it looks like and it's falling apart which is usual to see here, with new buildings being put up amongst the old. The Mosque stands out and as it's Friday, calls to prayer and sermons can be heard echoing all through Oasis.

Who said that |
|
Mmm, that looks risky! |

Local ? |
Everyone is friendly as we've come to expect and we wander through the fertile fields underneath the date palms until.... whoops, Krysia slips on an old date frond and lands on her hand, cutting her thumb. Ouch, so in an instant it's all change and back to the van as we have unusually forgotten the emergency medical kit! The wound is wrapped in a tissue awaiting medical attention and as soon as we get home the examination takes place and............it's good. Doctor Ted says ' You will be ok ' The wound is not serious and cleaning with antiseptic followed by a plaster sorts out the patient! A cup of coffee and a square of dark chocolate cheers her up.
Phew, that's a relief. So to end today's blog, a photo of the new bracelet along with the new rings!
and a shot of the local area at sunset with not a lot going on, yet! Gunfight at Fort Akabar?
Sleep well
Ted and Krysia xxx
