20th and 21st April
Friday
A day off means we are in need of peace and quiet! We don't quite get it but for most of the day we keep ourselves to ourselves and let the day pass by. When I do venture out, I immediately upset the guardien of the campsite by letting a camping car in! He was nowhere to be seen so I just opened the gate! Not allowed, excuse me . They do have their systems here and even if they don't make any sense, it is their way! So stop trying to be helpful Ted and get on with your day! Which is hot and sunny so we take it easy sunbathing and reading, as well as washing clothes and chores. In the evening we take a stroll into town past a tajine mountain!
We buy one because we can't resist which is typical of us! If only we could resist these things that we don't need! The human condition, ooh that's nice, I want it! So two minutes later a jewellery shop catches Krysias eye and a persuasive old fellow makes a sale on some beads which afterwards we think were possibly, no probably overpriced. When will we learn? They were only the price of two baked potatoes back in Swansea but that's not the point. One day we might understand the game here. Moments later, we passed a mother and two children on the pavement begging. A few metres on, I stopped and pondered the scene. I can afford to give a couple of dirhams, so I walked back to the sight of another 'hag' passing a large wad of banknotes into the hand of the first women! Kids on the floor by her side she was counting her fortune! So to hell with that, you can't even trust a beggar.
We had a meal in a cafe and walked home in the dark. Passing a cash machine and needing some money, I went through the standard procedure only to have my card shot back at me with a screen to quick to take in what it said and no money!??? Another bank close by gave me the cash no problem, as usual but did the first one swindle me? I will have to wait until Monday to find out.
Phew, never a dull moment with the Beynons!

Saturday 21st
Cracked a tooth in half today! just eating a fig! ah well, that'll give me something to do on Monday. Keep me busy.
We moved on this morning, not far just down to Aglou plage 10 miles away. We spent a lot of time here two years ago and feel the need to see an old friend who made us very welcome, Lahoucine is his name and a fisherman is his game, well that and being part of the local music group Agagne, which we recorded here in his cave in the side of the cliff.
The caves are made into dwellings with steps and front doors wherever possible. At high tide the waves would be crashing up against the cliff and as much defence as possible is put up to protect these sweet dwellings. The wooden boats are kept in tip top condition as these folk are doing this for their living and their lives depend on the equipment being sound.
Moroccan whisky is served as soon as we arrive, which of course is mint tea. We talk mainly in French about our last visit, the making of the music and the whereabouts of Jaimie. Although he has not met her, he shows great interest in her coming to stay at his cave! He also said that Mum should come here for her next holiday, the cave is at your disposal and a donkey ride will be arranged to get you here, are you listening Helen? we know it's not La Koudya but it has great views but sadly, the 'facilities' leave a lot to be desired! It's a kind offer.
The cave is as pretty as it was and although small, we did record a five piece band in it! For anyone who would like to hear the music, Agagne can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/tedswebspace/ along with some more modern music by yours truly!
The little alcove behind Lahoucine has a little painting in it that a made for him as a parting gift. Lovely to see it in amongst his possessions of beauty.
We say our goodbye's and hope to see him again before leaving Aglou but we have explained that this is a passing visit and he seems to understand. We were concerned before coming that he might not understand a quick hello but it seems fine with him for which we are glad.
We walk back along the cliff bottom all the way to the beach passing fishermens caves and beautiful twilight views
At the seaside village of Aglou we find it crowded by Moroccan weekend beach goers. Not a tourist in sight, as in the campsite, all the winter visitors have gone home and left the resort to the locals. It looks genuinely lovely.
Goodnight all

By good chance,
Lahoucine is at home and sees us coming with a look of astonishment and then joy. He is very happy to see us. Very happy indeed.

Hello--do you have more photos of the caves? I used to own one and I a trying to find it. It looked like this one, in fact: https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p1909622 It had a blue door and the #5. We are going back to Maroc this Summer and I'm wondering if it's still there. I also reached out to the home away owner. Best. -Christine
