A day in Taroudant

20th March

So we say our goodbyes to NozHa the maid, Mohammed the deaf gardener and Michelle the owner. It's time to move on. We have a purpose in Taroudant today.

Krysia's birthday boots were too small and we returned them the other day to Abder, who is making her another pair. Ready today! We sent him a german lady who had seen Krysia's first pair and she bought them form him at the same price! She had tried to haggle him down, saying they were second hand, to which he replied that they were worth more now because they were old! Touche ( accent over the e ).

We know this because we bump into Abder on the way to his shop and he tells us that the boots won't be ready untill 6 pm, as well as the tale of the sale of the first pair. No problem. We'll spend the day here and sleep outside the city walls at the Palais Salam, guarded parking.

No need to mention the heat, whoops I just did! So we spent as much time as possible under shade in alleys, covered markets and the gardens of the Palais Salam.

A strange place this Palais Salam, we sat for hours under the trees next to the bar without once being asked if we wanted anything! So we didn't have anything! Just cooling shade.

Krysia wears her new necklace proudly

I try to look the part

And promptly fall asleep

So we pick up the finely finished boots at 6 pm exactly and wishing Abder the fondest of fairwells and many thanks, we head back to the van through the crowded, bustling streets of Taroudant.
The boots are a perfect fit and will appear on many a blog in the future

Outside the walls, we settle in for a quiet night as the evening air cools down

Along with other travellers, this is a splendid place to spend the night

Hope all is well with all of you
lots of love

Ted and Krysia xxx
