Calm returns

23rd and 24th March

The night of the 23rd was a wild one. Not much sleep had by anyone really. The wind howled and the temperature stayed high all night. gusting up to gale force, The Chergui wind is a phenomenon found in this part of Morocco but usually later in the year. It causes havoc whenever it comes, heavy with dust, and high in temperature. It is said it can bring cities to a standstill until it has passed. We know what it means to be in a chergui wind, and we are glad to see the end of it, which comes quite suddenly around mid day. The wind drops and so does the temperature, much to our great relief. We have never encountered such conditions before and with temperatures in the van reaching 40 deg C, we hope we won't see them again.
So we have recovery day, which is made harder for Krysia as she is developing a humdinger of a cold! Sore throat the works, she keeps on going when perhaps she could have taken it a bit easier. We chat with our new found friends and take on learning to speak Spanish as a rest from arabic!

                                                                  Buenos dias amigos!

A swim is even a bit chilly as the temperature has dropped to about 20 deg C and it no doubt doesn't help Krysia's cold. Not easy being poorly when you're away in the van!

24th March
A good sleep had by all although Krysia is coughing and sneezing and quite under the weather. Well figuratively speaking of course! The weather is fine today, clothes are a pleasure to wear, at least to start with. It does get very warm as the day goes on but nothing like the chergui. We take a motorbike ride into Taghazout for a pharmacy and then on to Aourir to do some shopping and have an Avacado smoothie! Well we have to try and cheer up Krysia as she feels rotten again today! The smoothie is delicious and helps a little. The pharmacy gives relief with cough medicine and Vic.

Left over from the chergui was a locust, not caught on camera and these beauties which covered the side of the toilet block wall.

May the weather stay warm but not too hot!

lots of love

Ted and Krysia
