Getting ready

Its Sunday night and it has not stopped raining all day! We leave on Wednesday morning from Portsmouth, sailing to Santander and on to Morocco for another adventure, On the Road again. Our 26 year old van is ready willing and able. She's been checked over by Hayden, who remembers her from new, from his days working in Bevans. 'They don't make them like they used to' he says, as he rivets new break linings to the old shoes. I can still get most parts for her but the break shoes could not be found anywhere in uk or germany! Upon dismantling the rear drums, new brake cylinders were required. No problem. Euro commercials get them for the next day. Gwynne has just retired from parts, he too worked at Bevans and remembers her as well. He smiles as I keep ordering new bits for the old bus. A new windscreen wiper system should keep the rain at bay, a brake light switch mounted on the master cylinder should keep others at a distance. A new gear stick knob smoothly changes gear without that annoying rattle it's made ever since we've had the bus! Oh, and i've managed to get the front drivers door to close properly for the first time by trimming the rubbers. No more swinging open as i'm approaching a Moroccan policeman standing in the middle of the road!!! some things are left for too long when a simple solution is so close.
So the bus is ready to go, we pack more and more of what we probably won't need, into every small corner. Trying to remember it all. For here we are again, settting off on a nomads trail. A magic bus to Morocco.
All are welcome, so tune in to our tales of daily meanderings, life on the road with the Beynons again. Well, pop in occasionally if you like!
lots of love
Ted and Krysia
